New teachers and staff join Escuela Integrada
Learn about GRACES during FMC Global Outreach Week in Tulsa!
Come see GRACES Executive Director Hannah Nadeau Girón during FMC Tulsa’s Global Outreach Week April 28-May 3! Hannah will be in Tulsa to share about the work GRACES is doing in Guatemala.
Global Outreach Week is an opportunity for attendees to hear from mission partners about their work around the world. This year’s theme of “Empowered by the Spirit. Sent to the World,” connects to the meaningful work GRACES does in Guatemala by serving a community in great need.
“FMC has long supported this work through prayer and giving, and we are grateful to be part of GO Week this year,” Hannah said. “I’m looking forward to connecting with our supporters and being able to talk about what God has been doing through our organization this year.”
Hannah will share stories of mission during the “Empowered to Celebrate” lunch on Sunday, April 26 in Thomas Hall. She will also be available to talk with the children and youth during the Sunday school classes, and at the mission trip tables on the concourse during the week. If you’ve been curious about coming to Guatemala, stop by and ask her any questions you have!
All supporters and Vision Trip participants are invited to a celebratory dinner hosted by Brian and Katy Hunt on Saturday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m. For details or to RSVP, contact Katy at bkhunt@sbcglobal.net.
Teacher transitions at Escuela Integrada
Government teaching jobs in Guatemala are highly sought after positions that afford teachers a stable income and a pension. This year, we have three teachers who have been offered government roles, Rafael, Lidia and Cesia. While we are sad to see them leave Escuela Integrada after many years of service, we know this opportunity will give them greater economic freedom.
Several teachers from Escuela Integrada have received these opportunities over the last few years, with the number seemingly increasing year after year. This is attributed to the strong ethic of teaching at Escuela Integrada and their expertise in their content areas. We know it is a difficult decision, and we praise the teachers for their hard work and dedication to the field of education.
We completed the hiring process for Lidia, Rafael and Cesia’s replacements and would like to welcome Yuri, Evelyn and Cristian! We also hired a new cook and a new secretary this year, and would like to welcome Heidy and Cecilia to the Escuela Integrada staff!
