After several years of dedicated service in Guatemala, GRACES Sponsorship Coordinator Lucas Hertzberg is moving back to the United States. Lucas first joined us in 2019 as a summer intern and returned in 2021 to work with us.
“Lucas grew and led the sponsorship program, and I am so grateful for his hard work,” said Hannah Nadeau Girón, executive director of GRACES. “He was able to learn quickly and was self motivated.”
Since he first came to Guatemala, Lucas fell in love, got married and had a baby girl, all while helping GRACES grow the Sponsorship Program. Under his leadership, GRACES was able to reduce the total number of sponsors needed to 13 at one time, which had never been accomplished in prior years.
“Above all, his charismatic and caring attitude made him loved by the children, staff, families and supporters,” said Nadeau Girón. “He will be greatly missed but we are supporting and praying for him as he and his family start this new season in their lives.”

New opportunity to sponsor a teacher at Escuela Integrada
GRACES is thrilled to announce a new sponsorship opportunity: You can now sponsor a teacher at Escuela Integrada!
Teacher sponsorships provide a direct connection with one of the teachers or staff members at Escuela Integrada. Teacher sponsorships financially support the salary, benefits and professional development for an educator at the school.
As a teacher sponsor, you will build a relationship with the teacher or program leader. The cost to sponsor a teacher is $200 per month, which can be divided among friends, family members or another group of your choosing.
Supporters at all giving levels receive the GRACES newsletter, regular updates from the school, and an invitation to attend the annual Supporters Gathering and graduation celebrations in Guatemala.
