Get on the bus!

GRACES needs a new microbus! If you’ve been to Guatemala on a Vision Trip, you’ve probably been a passenger on a microbus, either on the gray one or blue one, which we lovingly call “Marta.”

The buses carry groups up steep mountain drives to visit families, across Antigua’s cobblestone streets for cultural activities, and back and forth to Chimaltenango to purchase supplies before each Vision Trip arrives.

We also use the microbuses to support the families of Escuela Integrada by transporting and installing stoves, delivering food and conducting wellness checks. Microbuses help us host events like Family Night and graduation, and give us a safe way to travel through the country without the additional expense of hired transportation.

“Nowadays, owning a microbus is not a luxury but a necessity,” said Hernan Garcia, administrative director of Escuela Integrada. “It is a means of transportation that helps us shop for food, run errands, and, above all, transport people to special activities.”

As GRACES continues to grow both through Vision Trips and in support of the programs at Escuela Integrada, we need another bus to get around town. This is why we are excited to announce a limited-time fundraiser to purchase a new microbus!

Will you Get on the Bus with GRACES to purchase a new microbus?

We received an anonymous donation to get us halfway to our goal of raising $40,000 for a new microbus. Now, all that is left is to raise $20,000. With your support, we can buy a new bus—maybe even one with air conditioning!—to make our Vision Trips run smoother and safer for all who come to visit.

Journey with us through Antigua as we hit milestones of the fundraiser! First stop? The market! Will you help us get there? Give now: wearegraces.org/bus.
