Midyear updates from GRACES
Can you believe we’re almost halfway through the school year in Guatemala?! Students, staff and teachers will be on their midyear break June 23-30, with two quarters down and two more to go when they return.
In the time since school began on January 13, the students at Escuela Integrada received 665 hours of academic instruction, and 76 hours of English classes outside of the normal school day. The majority of the students are on track to pass their classes this year with good exam scores and grades.
Our biggest number to date is the Meal Support program at the school. Between January 13-May 31, students received 18,124 breakfasts and 18,124 lunches as part of our commitment that no student goes without food while learning at Escuela Integrada.
As an organization, we are closing in on only 8 students left without a sponsor! This is an incredible moment—and one we have never seen in our organization. We hosted the first and second quarter Sponsor Update Meetings virtually on zoom over six different sessions with lots of great information about how the students are doing in school.
We have been blessed with four Vision Trips already and have another seven to go. The energy of Vision Trip season is infectious and brings so much joy to our students and families.
Thank you for your involvement in the first half of 2025!
In Solidarity,
Hannah Nadeau Girón
Executive Director of GRACES
Save the dates! Supporters Gathering returns Nov. 3-7
GRACES’ Supporters Gathering will take place November 3-7 in Antigua, Guatemala. We invite all supporters, sponsors and friends to join us for this annual event where we will celebrate three graduation ceremonies (kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade), engage in lively discussions about the organization and participate in home visits and cultural activities.
The total trip cost and additional details are coming soon. To be the first to find out or if you already know you are coming, please fill out the Supporters Gathering Interest Form.
Ready to book your flights? We recommend arriving in time for dinner on Monday, Nov. 3 and departing on Friday, Nov. 7, midday or later.
It’s a fantastic time to meet other supporters and share in the joy of the students’ academic accomplishments. We hope you will consider joining us this November!
