Feed a family of four for $30 this Christmas
Each November and December, every family at Escuela Integrada, including the teachers and staff, receive a food bag to get them through the months when school is not in session.
In every food bag, families receive:
- 5 lbs bag of rice
- 5 lbs bag of beans
- 5 lbs bag of sugar
- Pancake mix
- 4 sticks of margarine
- 2 bags of pasta
- A bag of milk
- A bag of a protein/vitamin drink
- A bag of oatmeal
- A bag of cereal
- Toothpaste
- 4 rolls of toilet paper
- Dish soap
- Laundry detergent
- Body soap
One food bag has enough nutrients to supply a family of four for a whole week, with several items continuing to provide for weeks to come.
In addition to food, families receive toilet paper and three types of soap to help with at-home hygiene and safety. This helps ensure that the kids are healthy and fed during their vacation months, a time that might otherwise be extremely stressful for families who live in poverty.
In 2023 alone, the cost of food in Guatemala rose 13.3%. This is more than double the inflation of food costs in the U.S. at 5%. An average family income in Guatemala is $297 per month, which must cover housing, transportation, water, electricity, clothing and food.
Families cannot, and often do not, make ends meet.
By providing a food bag, GRACES helps offset the high cost of food in Guatemala.
GRACES’ Year-End Campaign launched on December 1 with an ambitious goal: to feed all of the children in the school, which includes food bag support for November and December.
With a gift of $30 you can provide a food bag for a family at Escuela Integrada.
Double your gift and you’ve now fed two families for one week or one family for two weeks!
Will you help us feed a family this Christmas?
Your tax-deductible, year-end gift ensures that the families from Escuela Integrada won’t go without food. Every dollar donated between December 1-31 will go directly to purchasing food for GRACES’ Meal Support Program.
Thank you, in advance, for your generosity!
