Meet the Students

GRACES implements its vision and purpose through supporting the school in education and nutrition programs, counseling, mentoring, and longterm sustainability programs. All of the children attending the school are indigenous and live with the effects of daily prejudice, abuse, poverty and social inequities.

“In my free time I like to watch TV, play soccer and play basketball. There are 5 members in my family. My dad works in construction and my mom stays at our house.  When I grow up I want to be a chef. My goals include graduating and finishing each grade with good grades. Responsibility is the most important value to me. I want for my family to see my graduate and be proud of me. I also want my family to have better health and be more loving to each other. I hope my future consists of good work and having a family. If I could change one thing about Guatemala it would be less criminals and they would all get arrested.”

 There are 4 people in my family. My day is a carpenter and my mother is a house wife. The carrier what I want to continue is a doctor. My goal is keeping to studying hard, so I can be someone in the life. The value that is important to me is the honesty. What I want for my family is a better future. What I want for my future is be what I are. The change I want to see in Guatemala is that to not see more delinquency.

“My favorite things to do are take care of animals and listen to music. There are 6 people in my family. My parents work at grocery stores or they sell things. When I finish school I want to be a lawyer. To be successful I need to work hard at my studies and be disciplined so I can finish each year of school and graduate. I find respect and goodness the best values in a person. If I could have anything for my family it would be health and that when we fight, it would be out of love. I hope my future consists of working hard so I can help my family. Changes I want to see in Guatemala are for every child to get the opportunity to study and for everyone to respect each other.”

My goal is to be someone in life and to complete my dreams and to work and give it my all to achieve them. The value that is most important to me is respect. What I want for my family is for us to continue to be united. What I want for my future is t become a professional and have a great future. The change that I want to see in Guatemala is respect and care for the environment. To accomplish this, I will do activities with children and young people to teach them how to care for our country.”

Things I want to see change in Guatemala are people taking better care of the environment and not throwing their trash in the street.”

My biggest goal is to finish each grade and graduate so I can become a successful doctor. I think respect is the most important value. Things I want for my family are for us to love and respect each other. Things I hope change for the positive in Guatemala are every child have nutritious food and I hope when I become a doctor I can help people who don’t have enough food.”
