Meet the Students

GRACES implements its vision and purpose through supporting the school in education and nutrition programs, counseling, mentoring, and longterm sustainability programs. All of the children attending the school are indigenous and live with the effects of daily prejudice, abuse, poverty and social inequities.

Age: 13“Listening to music is my favorite pastime. There are 6 members in my family. My mom stays at our house and my dad is a gardener. When I grow up I want to be a license giver. I hope in the future I can become a licenser and build a house for my parents. Peace is the most important value to me because I like things to be calm. Something I want for my family is for my parents to have the opportunity to study.  In the future I hope to have a better life for my family. Positive changes I want to see happen in Guatemala are more safety and imprison all the extortionists.”

My dad works in construction and my mom stays at our house.  When I grow up I want to be a chef. My goals include graduating and finishing each grade with good grades. Responsibility is the most important value to me. I want for my family to see my graduate and be proud of me. I also want my family to have better health and be more loving to each other. I hope my future consists of good work and having a family. If I could change one thing about Guatemala it would be less criminals and they would all get arrested.”
