Meet the Students

GRACES implements its vision and purpose through supporting the school in education and nutrition programs, counseling, mentoring, and longterm sustainability programs. All of the children attending the school are indigenous and live with the effects of daily prejudice, abuse, poverty and social inequities.

Age: 13“Listening to music is my favorite pastime. There are 6 members in my family. My mom stays at our house and my dad is a gardener. When I grow up I want to be a license giver. I hope in the future I can become a licenser and build a house for my parents. Peace is the most important value to me because I like things to be calm. Something I want for my family is for my parents to have the opportunity to study.  In the future I hope to have a better life for my family. Positive changes I want to see happen in Guatemala are more safety and imprison all the extortionists.”

Fellowship is the most important value to me. Something I want for my family is for us to move forward. Things I want to see change in Guatemala are to see less trash in the street and more trash cans.

To achieve my goals, I must get good grades and pay attention in class. The values that are important to me are respect and responsibility. What I want for my family is that all my siblings can study. What I want for my future is to become a chef. The change that I want to see in Guatemala is that there wouldn’t be so much trash on the streets. Each person can do their part and put trash in the trashcan. I think for this to happen there needs to be more public trash cans and trash trucks.
